Životopis
Maja Matijašević redovita je profesorica na Zavodu za telekomunikacije Fakulteta elektrotehnike i računarstva Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Diplomirala je (1990.), magistrirala (1994.) i doktorirala (1998.) na Fakultetu elektrotehnike i računarstva Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Veći dio istraživanja u području doktorata obavila je na University of Louisiana at Lafayette, SAD, gdje je završila poslijediplomski studij i stekla naslov Master of Science u području računalnog inženjerstva (M. S. Computer Engineering). Za doktorsku disertaciju pod naslovom "Distributed Networked Multimedia and Virtual Reality Applications for Multi-User Environment" dobila je srebrnu plaketu "Josip Lončar". Na Zavodu za telekomunikacije FER-a zaposlena je od 1991. godine. U znanstveno-nastavno zvanje docenta izabrana je 2000. godine, u zvanje izvanrednog profesora 2005. godine te u zvanje redovitog profesora 2010. godine.
Područje njenog znanstvenog rada su mrežni aspekti višemedijskih usluga, s naglaskom na kvalitetu usluge, iskustvenu kvalitetu, pokretljivost i upravljanje mrežnim resursima, u Internetu i mrežama zasnovanima na internetskim protokolima. Voditeljica je istraživačke grupe Networked Media Research Group.
U znanstvenom radu sudjelovala je u projektima pod pokroviteljstvom Ministarstva znanosti, obrazovanja i športa Republike (MZOŠ) Hrvatske, a od 2007.-2013. godine vodila je znanstveni projekt i znanstveni program koji je okupio osam znanstvenih projekata pod potporom MZOŠ. Kao istraživač djeluje i u okviru Europskih projekata sedmog okvirnog programa (FP7) ACROSS i OpenIoT te projekta ICT-AAC pod potporom Fond za ulaganje u znanost i inovacije (SIIF). Tijekom boravka u SAD, radila je kao istraživač na projektima pod potporom National Science Foundation i Department of Energy. Radila je kao suradnik i voditelj projekata suradnje s Hrvatskom akademskom i istraživačkom mrežom CARNet i kao voditelj projekta i programa suradnje s istraživačko-razvojnim odjelom poduzeća Ericsson Nikola Tesla. Surađivala je u tri projekta u programu Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Europske zaklade za znanost (290 WI-QOST, IC0703 TMA, IC0906 WiNeMO). Osim znanstvenog usavršavanja u SAD, boravila je kao gostujući istraživač i na Tehničkom sveučilištu u Grazu, Austrija.
U nastavnom radu sudjeluje u nastavi preddiplomskog, diplomskog i poslijediplomskog studija i djeluje kao mentor. Autor je nastavnih tekstova u tri sveučilišna udžbenika s odobrenjem Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Pod njenim mentorstvom izrađeno je pet uspješno obranjenih doktorskih disertacija, 18 magistarskih radova i više od 100 diplomskih i završnih radova. U koautorstvu sa studentima objavila je dvadesetak znanstvenih radova. Njeni studenti dobili su dvije Srebrne plakete "Josip Lončar" FER-a, za osobito uspješnu doktorsku disertaciju i magistarski rad, te dvije Rektorove nagrade Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.
U stručnom radu surađuje u projektima s tvrtkama iz gospodarstva, a djeluje i kao suautor i voditelj stručnih seminara i programa kompetencija u sklopu cjeloživotnog učenja. Bila je član tehničkog odbora za elektrotehničke proizvode TK-13 Centra za kvalitetu Hrvatske gospodarske komore. Aktivni je član fakultetskih i sveučilišnih povjerenstava. Radila je na popularizaciji struke kroz nastupe na Hrvatskoj radioteleviziji, sudjelovanje na okruglom stolu na znanstveno-stručnom skupu MIPRO te pozvana predavanja.
Autor je i koautor više od 100 znanstvenih radova. Djelovala kao predsjednik i član programskih i organizacijskih odbora i recenzent u više od 30 međunarodnih konferencija i kao gostujući urednik u uglednim časopisima.
U razdoblju 1991.–1996. sudjelovala je u nekoliko programa međunarodne razmjene s Republikom Austrijom, kao gostujući istraživač na Technische Universitaet Graz. Tijekom 1999. godine boravila je na University of Louisiana at Lafayette kao postdoktorand. Godine 2000. završila je Međunarodni jednosemestralni studijski program poslovnog upravljanja (International Diploma Study in Management) na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu.
Član je udruženja Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) i Hrvatske udruge diplomiranih inženjera Fakulteta elektrotehnike i računarstva Sveučilišta u Zagrebu (AMAC-FER). U IEEE je obavljala dužnost predsjednice hrvatskog ogranka komunikacijskog odjela (IEEE Communications Society Croatia Chapter) te dužnosti tajnice, dopredsjednice i predsjednice Hrvatske sekcije IEEE.
